Switching from a Feature Phone to a Smartphone for the First Time
If you’re currently using a feature phone and are switching to a smartphone for the first time, you might want to consider the “First Smartphone Plans” offered by major carriers (Docomo, au, SoftBank).
These plans are very inexpensive for the first year (around 1,000 to 2,000 yen per month).
The downside is that the price may increase from the second year onwards, and the data allowance may be limited. Considering long-term use (where frequent plan changes are not possible), the “First Smartphone Plans” offered by each company are not recommended.
